The Buddy Holly Center Remembers The Day the Music Died

In honor of the 45th anniversary of Buddy Holly’s Death, the Buddy Holly Center in Lubbock, Texas is hosting week-long activities in remembrance of Buddy Holly and “The Day the Music Died”.Below is a schedule of the week’s activities:

Postcards to Buddy
Ever wonder what you might say to Buddy if he were here? These fans have written and designed their own postcard to Buddy. Come see this tribute to Buddy all week. If you are interested in making a post card of your own, click here to learn how.
Beginning Guitar Classes 6:30 – 7:30 pm
Music fans 15 years old and up are invited to “try out” acoustic guitar for a week. Bring your own guitar or use one of ours while in class. Class size is limited and pre-registration by Friday, January 30th is required. Please call 767-2686 to sign up. Cost: $5.00 per person each day.

The Day the Music Died. 12:00 pm
Please join the Buddy Holly Center and Rock n’ Roll historian Bill Griggs in commemorating February 3rd, 1959 – “The day the music died”. In observance of the plane crash that took rock n’ roll pioneer Buddy Holly’s life, as well as the lives of fellow musicians J.P. Richardson (The Big Bopper) and Ritchie Valens, Griggs will lead a free tour of the Buddy Holly Gallery. Cost: FREE
The Real Buddy Holly Story 3:00 pm
