Contrary to hindsight and much of Fender's own marketing material, the Strat did not take the musical world by storm. "Buddy Holly had a lot to do with it" as the first rock star to use a Strat. But Holly died in 1959. A miracle would save the Stratocaster from oblivion: Jimi Hendrix.
