Danny & The Juniors Biography

Danny & the Juniors were a group of four Philadelphia high school friends: Danny Rapp, Frank Maffei, Joe Terranova and Dave White Tricker. They later added sax player Lennie Baker to the line-up. Their biggest hit was the gold-selling classic, “At The Hop”, selling 7000 copies in one week in Philadelphia alone. The song reached number one and remained and the top for seven weeks. |
Danny & the Juniors followed up with, “Rock and Roll Is Here To Stay” and made the top 20. In 1963, after touring with Alan Freed’s Travelling Rock & Roll shows, Danny & the Juniors parted Ways.
Danny White and manager John Madara went on to join The Spokesmen, while Lennie Baker went on to be a founding member of Sha-na-na. Sadly, Danny Rapp committed suicide in 1983.
