Dion and The Belmonts Biography
| Lead by Dion DiMucci, the Belmonts were named after Belmont Street in the Bronx, New York. Dion was seeking back up singers and began rehearsing on subways heading to Manhattan. The group included Fred Milano, Angelo D’Aleo and Carlo Mastrangelo. |
Their first hit was “I Wonder Why”, followed by “No One Knows”. They reached number 40 with “Don’t Pity Me”. Their break-through hit, however was “A Teenager In Love”, which reached number 5 on the charts!
In 1960, Dion & The Belmonts parted ways. Dion went on to a solo career and released various hits such as “Runaround Sue”, “The Wanderer”, “Lovers Who Wander”, “Little Diane” and “Ruby Baby”.
Dion DiMucci still performs in the oldies circuit.
