Peggy Sue
Peggy Sue was the quintessential "girl next door" of the 1950’s. Born on June 15, 1940 in Olton, Texas, she grew up in Lubbock and attended Lubbock High School with Buddy Holly! She is most famous for the song "Peggy Sue" which was named after her. Soon after graduation from high school, Peggy Sue married Crickets member Jerry Allison and followed the band on tour, even after the "day the music died".
"Peggy Sue" has been called the "first international rock anthem" and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has honored the song as "one of the most popular and influential Rock classics"!
Today Peggy Sue hosts a radio show called "Rave On" and she is also a celebrity speaker and columnist. She continues "to keep the music and memory alive" and has helped in the development of the Buddy Holly Centre.
