Hello and this is a great site.

Does anyone know the fender amp model and year that is pictured in the photo from the Petty Studio ?
And was it the one he used on his recordings :
That'll be the Day, Maybe Baby etc. ???

I was fortunate enough to see Buddy in New York at the Parmount and he has always been # 1 with me.
I started playing a guitar 4 years ago as a retirement hobby.

I have a current day amp and I am looking to try and come close to duplicating the 50's sound.

I have been researching and it appears that it was a Fender Pro amp, BUT they made different versions of the amp with regards to Tubes and speakers. Its important to get the right combination.

I already have the vintage Strat style that he used.
Any info or web site to go to would be great.

Greg

Probably one of the most in-depth sites you're going to find about the type of equipment Buddy used, if still in doubt email Bill Griggs. I wouldn't be surprised if he still had the stage equipment. Razzer

Buddy purchased a Fender Pro amp at the same time that he got his first strat. It has one 15 inch speaker. From what I have seen and read, this is the same amp that is at Petty's studio. Later, through his association with Tommy Allsup, Fender sent both Buddy and Tommy new Fender Twin amps which they used through the last tour.
