I know. Did anyone here see the show with the Buddy Holly songs on? It was shockingly awful!

Yup! You'd think that especially Bucky Covington, who's a good ol' down South kinda guy, would've been able to pull off "Oh Boy!", but oh boy!

The strange thing is that both songs ("Oh Boy!" and "Not Fade Away") had all the guts sucked out of them and had almost no noticeable guitar... one of the key elements of Buddy's music. Very odd.

Yep, American Idol absolute crap. I watched the two Buddy songs on the internet and I think someone down the local Pub on the kareoke could have done better. The arrangement and the way the songs were handled were rubbish. Why is it they can't do a decent arrangement? For me nothing ruins a song more than a bad arrangement no matter how good the person singing maybe. But perhaps we should expect this nonsense in any show Simon Cowell is involved in.

I fell in love with the "Runaway Express" version of "Learning the game", my personal Buddy favorite song. This cover version is most of the time a capella, extraordinary performance, on the CD "From the Archives, Vol. 1". One of the great gems in my collection.
