I'm so glad to announce a new gem in the world of Buddy Holly.
On my website YEAH, BUDDY ! I've just published a letter from Buddy's mother Ella Holley to a good friend of mine, just like me member of the HOLLY INTERNATIONAL FAN CLUB. This letter is from December 1968, just before the LP "GIANT - BUDDY HOLLY" was released.
Have a look and tell me what you think about Ella Holley's thoughts about Buddy fans in 1968 and nowadays.
Is it still the same or has something changed since then?
It is really the very first time that these 3 photos have been published, it's a world premiere.

Wow...very nice...Are his parents still alive? I only ask this because there are a few people who are their age still alive. I highly doubt they are but if not, things are different where they are...I have no doubt in my mind that they went to be with the LORD and Buddy is no longer their Son but sitting at the table of the LORD with the rest of the saints waiting for the rest of the Heavenly family to return home...Nice contribution, it's nice to read and see...

Buddy's parents passed away long time ago. On my website www.buddyholley.net you find the photos of Ella and Buddy Holly's grave and a photo of Buddy's late parents visiting the grave of their son Buddy.
Very nice and Nice contribution is not the answer I was asking for.

Ella Holley writes about the fans in the USA, Germany and the U.K. in 1968.

I think that something in the USA has definitely changed, and so in saying that, I guess I sadly have to include Canada in that as well. But in Europe in general, I don't believe that they have forgotten even in the slightest to this day. North America has a problem with history. We tend to forget it very easily and not honour it. I'm not even talking about music history here. I mean any kind of history, war, settlements, you name it. In Europe there are Canadian soldiers' graves that are cared for by the children of the children whose parents were in the war. But yet they care for the graves cause they haven't forgotten.

The USA had a problem recognizing what the Beatles were handing back to them on a silver platter as something one of their own [americains] had created. Unfortunately, I've never had the chance to travel to Europe, but the stories I've heard paint a very different picture. Buddy Holly is alive and well over there.
Speaking of stories, Buddy had the same idea that Europe knew good music, or at least still loved him, and Waylon tells this story. "One morning Buddy came into my room to wake me up. He was pacing back and forth, and asked me if I wanted to go to England after this tour [WDP] was over. But then he added, 'But don't tell Tommy, cause he's not coming, and don't tell Carl, cause he's not coming either. I want to call JI and Joe B and get the Crickets back together, and you can come with us.' I didn't understand, cause if Joe B came back, then I was out of a job, but then Buddy kept explaining, saying I was to come with them to open their shows. I was his protege you know."-Waylon Jennings.
As someone kindly pointed out to me on another board after retelling something from Waylon's bio, there could be a couple fabrications in here, not because Waylon meant it, but cause he was on drugs for 21 years and at the back admits all the help he got with his bio, for the memories of others that knew him well.

I'm so happy to have another message from Mrs. Ella Holley now being published on my website. This topic is absolutely new and has never been published before. I think that Ella Holley and her husband were very kind people, I've just listened to a very long interview with a German journalist, who vistied them twice about 1971. A real gem in my collection and I found some others, as well, now I'm really happy to have an ear to the Holley family. At the moment I'm having contact with Sherry Holley and I just published great things about Larry Holley, her father, who met a German fan coming to meet Buddy in 2002.
