Mik posted something under Buddy's music, thinking that Buddy had sung a song called Happiness is Lubbock Texas in my Rearview Mirror.Thanks to vish for straightening us out, it's actually mac Davis who sings that song, and he makes some references to Buddy Holly. I've listened to some of Mac Davis' other stuff as well, and it seems that what they say about West Texas is true: there's an endless supply of eye opening artists from there because in West Texas, there's not too much to do save for playing music. Anyone else care to share their opinion on Mac Davis or other West Texas artists?

You know what else is cool about West Texas, and Lubbock in particular, is that some group, I can't remember which, went over to England. For anyone who hasn't figured it out yet, Buddy made quite a bigger impact in England and Australia than he did in America or even sadly, Canada doesn't recognoze him as much as we should. Anyways, a Lubbock Texas group went over to England, and when people there found out that these singers were from Texas, Lubbock specifically, one of the band is quoted as saying that the group was treated like royalty. They found out later that it was because Buddy had hailed from Lubbock. Isn't that cool? Even years later, English people hadn't forgotten a lanky youth from the state of Texas, and they hadn't forgotten either what sort of amazing noise that groups from Texas could make. I wish I could remember the name of the group.

Mac Davis, who does in fact hail from Lubbock, has another great song called "Hooked on Music" with a verse about Buddy. in part, the lyrics are:

"i hung around that skating rink where Buddy Holly played, and i could not believe one man could have such fun and still get paid..."
