I just checked out your weblog, and loved your Buddy Holly stuff! I also have a recently-purchased copy of 11 Fifth Avenue, and I love it.

I would also give Buddy the nod over Freddy and Johnny (Chopin and Bach, that is).

I hope to visit Lubbock some day. I can't match your short one-mile jaunt to walk in Buddy's footsteps, but I did have the great good fortune to grow up close to the site of Buddy's second-to-last concert. It was held at the Riverside Ballroom in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I attended a tribute concert there last January, and I can testify that time travel does in fact exist, at least in the backward direction. If you ever plan on coming to Wisconsin, let me know - I'll take you!

(I should warn you: The Wisconsin I've lived in for 38 years bears very little resemblance to the Wisconsin portrayed in Love Actually... well, except maybe for the cold weather and garish Christmas lights.)

That is sooo neat , I hope to someday visit the places where Buddy played in England and have fish and chips too! The tour of England to me is the height of Buddy's success and the pictures are priceless , not only because of the incredible way buddy was recieved upon arrival in the U.K. but because it was one of the last periods where the Crickets and the Petty's were like a family , without lawsuits and animosity ... in way's the last of the boys innocence when it came to the industry that would soon tear them apart. A very interesting post and welcome to the board!
