This marks the first post on BuddyHolly.com's brand new discussion board. How cool is that! Smiler

My name is Vishal, and I recently joined BuddyHolly.com team. I am probably not as big an expert on Buddy as some of you are, but I'm a huge music fan. And being one, I wish to make the official site more accessible and interesting to fans. We hope this place will become a meeting ground for BH fans from across the world.

The new BuddyHolly.com is all about connecting people, and we have so many exciting plans in store for you and the site. But more on that later... For now, I just want to welcome you to the board and wish you good times here.

Please make yourself familiar with this board by reading some helpful tips here. We'll talk more soon.

Here's to new beginnings and friends...

'Well All Right' - Hello, my name is Oliver and I am from London, England. I am 23 and a huge Buddy Holly fan. This web site is a fantastic tribute to the man and his music and this looks like it will be a great discussion board and a good chance to get to talk to Holly fans from all over the world. So, we might as well get talking...

The forum will be great once it gets going. I'm 15 and "discovered", if you will, Buddy Holly two years ago, while doing a school project. So rave on, Buddy.

i remember when i first got a copy of the don mclean album "american pie" - on the back is a note saying 'dedicated to buddy holly'. and i was intrigued by that....later, i remember a line in 'american graffiti' where a character says 'rock n' roll's been going downhill ever since buddy holly died', and i remember the two songs on that soundtrack from buddy, which seemed to be so much cooler than just about anything else on there - 'that'll be the day' and 'maybe baby'.

still later, i saw an album at the store called "buddy holly - 20 golden greats' and i bought it....

well, i immediately became a huge buddy holly fan. i was just floored at the sophistication in the songwriting and the guitar work, not to mention his very distinctive voice. since that time, i've gotten about every recording he ever made, and read just about anything i could about him. he was simply miles ahead of his contemporaries in just about every conceivable way. most early rock songs are the blues, played faster.....buddy's songs have unusual chord progressions and arrangements, and they have cool melodies and great production.

if anyone ever gets the chance, i would urge you to listen to a song written by one of buddy's early bandmates, sonny curtis, called 'the real buddy holly story'. the lyrics tell a lot about the kind of man buddy was, and in a very tender way.

Hi all:

I'm Shelle, 26, student and pleased to meet all of you. I've been listening to Buddy since birth thanks to my mother and father's undying love for his music.
I am beyond ecstatic about the launch of these boards as I am a self-confessed message board junky and have been looking for a sufficient boards of the "Holly persuasion". I wish the moderators nothing but success as I would like to hang out here on as as-regular-as-is-allowed basis. Smiler

It's a phrase from the REM song "9-9". In general, I am a shy person but I'm pretty comfortable on message boards. Wink

So glad to see so many new names on here, and it may be just me because I haven't been on here for about a week, but does anyone else find it ironic that a whole whack of people popped up on and around the anniversary of Buddy's death?
Anyways, just wanted to say welcome all and am glad to see that there'll be new people sharing new opinions.
