Does anyone know what Buddy's brothers and sister are doing now? The last I heard was that all were alive (although his parents died sometime ago and though I heard Buddy's dad is buried next to him, I'm not sure where his mom is buried.) but what are they doing? Do Larry and Travis still have the family tiling business that Buddy too was somewhat apprenticed in? And what about his sister?

when i passed through there a few years ago, i stopped by the HI DI HO, and inquired about buddy. the lady told me to call larry up on the phone! and i did. he graciously came down to meet me, and we had cokes while talking a little about buddy. he was very nice, and every bit the gentleman. guess it runs in the family.

by the way, buddy's niece sherry holley has a music career, though it hasn't been hugely successful. she is the daughter of larry holley, and was about two or three when her uncle buddy died.

well, there was some booklet down there at the HI D HO that had rare pictures in it, and apparently it went with one of the albums that larry and sherry had put out, in tribute to buddy. so i asked him to bring one, so i could buy it from him. and he did - i think he only asked $5 for it. we talked about the stratocaster that he had bought for buddy, and i thanked him for doing that. we also talked about lubbock, and i mentioned that it didn't seem like buddy was as greatly appreciated as he ought to be. he agreed. and for some reason, i quoted the Bible at that point (Luke 4:24), where Jesus said "I tell you this - prophets are never welcomed in their hometown".
and i think larry was honored that i said that. i promised to write him a letter when i got back to nashville, and he said that would be great. i did, and have corresponded a couple of times with his daughter, sherry. i sent them a little song i'd written about buddy, called "When Holly was King", and they really liked it.

Sherry Holley is a wonderful woman, she can sing, have a look at her website, she makes great tile murals, the topic is Buddy Holly. A friend of mine, Christian, just bought the item called "Lonesome tears", a ltd edition with black and red color, Christan is absolutely happy with this gem, a new entry for his B.H. collection. Maybe Sherry will go on a tour to China, that's what she wrote me some days ago.
