TOUR NOTES BIOGRAPHIES
The Danleers
Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, the Danleers consisted of Jimmy Weston, Nat McClune, Roosevelt Mays, Johnny Lee and Will Ephraim. The created their sound on the streetcorners of Brooklyn, playing playgrounds and hallways in surrounding neighborhoods.
Their first recordings, "Wheelin’ and Dealin’" and "One Summer Night", became instant classics. They soon signed with Mercury Records and began to tour with big-time players such as Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, the Everly Brothers, Frankie Avalon and, of course, Buddy Holly & The Crickets! “One Summer Night” made it to the top five national pop music best sellers, with over a million in sales.
They continued to release songs such as, "I Really Love You", "My Flamin Heart", "A Prelude to Love" and "A Picture of You". Unfortunately, the songs failed to hit the charts.
Although "One Summer Night" forever pinned The Danleers on the one-hit-wonder board, the song is still considered a classic.
