Frankie Avalon
Born Francis Thomas Avallone on September 18, 1939, Frankie Avalon was known as one of the most successful teen idols in the 1950’s and 1960’s.
Frankie began performing as a trumpet player at the age of 12 on U.S. television shows. As a teenager, Avalon played with Bobby Rydell in a band called Rocco and the Saints. In 1959, Frankie Avalon went Number One on the Billboard hot 100 with his songs "Venus" and "Why".
Frankie Avalon is best known for his roles in beach movies with actress Annette Funicello during the 1960’s. Some of his biggest hit movies include Beach Blanket Bingo, Beach Party and Muscle Beach. In 1978, Frankie Avalon also appeared in a cameo role in the classic movie, "Grease", singing "Beauty School Drop-out".
Frankie Avalon married Kathryn Dielbel in 1962 and they are still together. They have 8 children.
