Frankie Lymon
Born in New York City in 1942, Frankie started his career with a group called The Teenagers. In 1956 Frankie and the Teenagers released, "Why do Fools Fall In Love?" which went to the top ten in the USA and reached #1 in the UK!
In 1957, Frankie began his career as a solo artist and released many songs including the top twenty song, "Goody, Goody". Unfortunately, by this time, Frankie was suffering a serious drug problem and was forced into rehabilitation in 1961. Although he attempted a comeback, he was never able to shake his addiction and was found dead of a drug overdose at age 25 on February 28, 1969.
Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers were inducted into the Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 and a movie based on the life of Frankie Lymon titled “Why Do Fools Fall In Love” was released in 1998.
