Jimmy Clanton
Jimmy Clanton formed his first band in 1956 and named them The Dixie Cats. He later formed another group called "The Rockets" – all while in high school. The group released "Just A Dream" in 1958 and reached number four on the Billboard Chart. That same year, Clanton performed on Dick Clark’s American Bandstand and by Christmas the song had sold over a million copies.
Clanton continued to tour with many popular artists and had several hits such as, "Another Sleepless Night" and "Go Jimmy Go". He later starred in the movie, "Go Johnny Go" which was produced by Alan Freed.
In 1970, Clanton went on to become a disc jockey and performed an "oldies" revue. He continued to perform during the 1990’s, including the 1995 Jazz Fest in New Orleans.
