George Jones

Known to have had charted more singles than any other artist in any format of popular music, George Jones was born in Saratoga, Texas in 1931. He was married twice by the age of 24, served in the Marines and followed country music religiously. His first Top Five hit, "Why Baby Why" started his extraordinary career which has spanned 50 years.

In 1959, George Jones released his first #1 album "White Lightening" and has since released many number one albums and charted songs. In 1962, he was awarded "Male Vocalist of the Year" by the Country Music Association, he was awarded again in 1963.

George Jones married his third wife, country singer Tammy Wynette, in 1969 and although they released a string of duets together, the couple divorced in 1975. Notorious for his drinking addiction, George was known to wake up to a Bloody Mary in the morning! In 1983, George married is fourth and current wife, Nancy Sepulvado, whom George has credited for rescuing his life from the bottle.

George continues to make albums and spends up to 165 days a year on the road.
