Wanda Jackson
Known as the Queen of Rockabilly and the first female Rock and Roll singer in the U.S.A., Wanda Jackson released her debut album in 1956. Her musical styles ranges from Folk to country twang to throaty yodels to ballads. Lyrically, she sings about the strength of a woman in a man’s world.
Wanda Jackson is internationally known, achieving great and continuing success in Europe, Asia and Australia, but the international fame is no comparison to her fame in the U.S.A. She has been inducted into the Oklahoma Country Music Hall of Fame, the Rockabilly Hall of Fame, The International Hall of Fame, the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame, the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame and the German Country Music Hall of Fame. Wanda Jackson has recorded with various artists such as Elvis Costello, Lee Rocker and Dave Alvin. Wanda began performing again when she went on promotional club dates with Rosie Flores and realized that she had fans her grandchildren’s age. She continues to perform at clubs and festivals in the U.S.A.
