Gotta Roll!: The Early Recordings 1949-1955
Before he was signed to his first major label deal in 1956, Buddy recorded a number of demo tracks, some of which led to Decca offering him a contract. On this new release, you get to hear 26 of those early rockabilly gems, including I Wanna Play House With You, Gotta Get Near You Blues and cover versions of Hank Snow's My Two-Timin' Woman. In these pre-Crickets sessions, Buddy plays both rhythm and lead guitar, and mandolin. He's joined on these demos, recorded in Lubbock and Wichita, by Bob Montgomery, Jack Neal, Sonny Curtis and Ben Hall. Here's your chance to take home a piece of Buddy Holly - and rockabilly - history!
