Hello, I am new to this site. I am helping a friend's father who went to school with Buddy Holly and has a yearbook from the school he attended. Could I get some input from everyone on what sort of demand there is for that sort of memorabilia if any? He wants to put it up on ebay and I want to make sure he gets fair value. I look forward to being on this site. I enjoy Buddy's music. Smiler

Hi Johnny Z,
Welcome to Buddy Holly.com!

I just checked with Heritage Galleries and Auctioneers in Dallas, TX. They recently sold a Buddy Holly (unsigned) yearbook for $112.50 (US). From that, the auction house takes out their percentage, as well. If it's signed by Buddy, it's certainly a more valuable item.

Actually, the better item is Buddy's 1949 yearbook, where he is crowned "Grade School King", and features a much larger photograph.

Johnny, feel free to email me at americanfamilyphoto@msn.com, and perhaps I'll be able to help you further.

For those who are curious, I'm posting a photo of Buddy's yearbook cover on "Cricket Color" in the Photos section.

Thanks for everyone's input! This should be on ebay in the next couple or three weeks. Once I get it up there, let me know if anyone is interested in seeing it and I can link it for you. Smiler

Hi Johnny Z,
Looks like Ebay is your best bet - My only recommendations would be to set up a "reserve" amount for the item; and you may want to contact the Texas Musicians curator first, as Jerry suggested. I'm always curious to see how Buddy does on Ebay, so please keep us updated, and good luck.

Hello everyone,

A while back, we posted a tool that lets people check up on Buddy-related auctions running at eBay through Buddyholly.com. This is your best bet at finding all Buddy Holly items. It's also a quicker way to search.
Go to the Buddy Holly Auctions page to see what Buddy Holly memorabilia is being auctioned off!

Good Luck!

Helen
