John Lennon
John Winston Ono Lennon was best known as a singer, guitarist and one of the principle songwriters for The Beatles. He was also known as a successful solo artist, political activist, artist and actor. His song-writing has heavily influenced the development of rock music causing lyric writers to become more political and serious in their messages.
After marrying avant-garde artist and musician, Yoko Ono, the pair became one unit and every project created after the Beatles’ breakup in 1970 became a JohnAndYoko production. Best known for their "Peace Bed-Ins" in Amsterdam, Toronto and Montreal, the cause for peace became their staple. The Bed-Ins inspired the incredible song, “Give Peace A Chance” which has become an anthem for world peace. Lennon songs include “Cold Turkey”, "Instant Karma" and "Imagine" – his most successful single and album. On December 8th, 1980, John Lennon was murdered in New York City by obsessed fan Mark David Chapman. Although John Lennon is no longer, his legend continues to this day.
