Peter and Gordon

Known as "the Everly Brothers of the British Invasion", Peter Asher and Gordon Waller rocketed to fame in 1964 with "A World without Love". Other hits, such as "Nobody I Know", "Woman" and "I Don’t Want to See You Again" were written by Sir Paul McCartney who dated Peter’s sister, actress Jane Asher in the 1960’s.

This connection gave Peter and Gordon access to many Lennon-McCartney songs that were unrecorded by The Beatles. Their last hit was "Lady Godiva". Peter and Gordon broke-up in 1968 and Asher became a successful music business executive, managing and producing acts like Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor.

Peter was big on jazz as well as a folk music fan. Gordon was more rock 'n roll, above all a big fan of Elvis. They found common ground in The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly.
